Lighthouse Immersive Partners with the City of Moreno Valley to Develop a New Cultural Museum Experience

Lighthouse Immersive is partnering with the City of Moreno Valley, California, to develop a new cultural destination that blends immersive art, local history, and community gathering spaces. The project will transform a former Sears location at the Moreno Valley Mall into a vibrant two-story museum complex designed to bring art, storytelling, and civic engagement together under one roof.

Scheduled to open in 2026, the facility will combine an immersive art gallery, a physical museum dedicated to Mo

reno Valley’s history, and a variety of public amenities including a café, retail store, and meeting spaces.

The project represents a new model for cultural spaces – one where immersive technology and traditional museum storytelling work together to create engaging, accessible experiences for both residents and visitors.

A New Cultural Hub for Moreno Valley

The partnership was initiated by the Moreno Valley City Council, which saw an opportunity to use immersive technology to expand how the community engages with art and history.

The museum complex will serve as a civic hub where visitors can explore the city’s past while also experiencing large-scale immersive installations that place them inside the worlds of iconic artists and storytellers.

“This project is a defining moment for Moreno Valley,” said the city’s mayor. “We are committed to investing in our community and providing our residents with enriching experiences. The Historical Museum will not only celebrate our city’s history but also bring world-class art experiences to our residents and visitors.”

Immersive Art Experiences at Scale

The immersive gallery will feature large-scale digital exhibitions produced by Lighthouse Immersive, including globally recognized productions such as Immersive Van Gogh.

Using floor-to-ceiling projection and spatial storytelling techniques, these installations allow visitors to move through animated environments inspired by the work of legendary artists and creators.

Since its debut, Immersive Van Gogh has welcomed more than 10 million visitors across more than 20 cities in North America, becoming one of the most widely attended immersive art experiences in the world.

Lighthouse’s broader portfolio also includes a growing collection of immersive exhibitions presented internationally, demonstrating our ability to translate cultural storytelling into fully immersive environments.

Reimagining Museums Through Immersive Technology

For Lighthouse Immersive, the Moreno Valley project reflects a broader vision: rethinking how cultural institutions can use immersive technology to attract new audiences and create more interactive experiences.

Led by CEO and producer Corey Ross, Lighthouse has built a global reputation for developing immersive environments that bring art and history to life.

“Following our successes with immersive presentations like Immersive Van Gogh, we’re excited to bring many of our renowned shows to this new facility in Moreno Valley,” Ross said. “Audiences often tell us that our experiences feel like stepping into another world – whether that’s the artistic universe of Vincent Van Gogh or the imaginative landscapes of Disney animation.”

A Multifunctional Destination

Beyond immersive exhibitions, the Moreno Valley museum complex will include a variety of spaces designed to support community activity and programming.

The facility will feature:

  • A physical history museum showcasing Moreno Valley’s heritage
  • A large-scale immersive exhibition gallery
  • A retail store and café
  • Meeting and event spaces for community programming

By combining immersive storytelling with traditional museum displays and civic gathering spaces, the venue aims to create a cultural destination that is both educational and experiential.

A Long-Term Cultural Partnership

The partnership between Lighthouse Immersive and the City of Moreno Valley is structured as a 10-year collaboration, with the first phase of development already underway.

As the project evolves, additional details about the museum’s exhibitions and programming will be announced.

The Moreno Valley project reflects Lighthouse Immersive’s broader work developing immersive cultural venues and experiences around the world, with projects spanning North America, Latin America, and Asia.

More information about the Moreno Valley Historical Museum project will be shared as development progresses.
