Walt Disney Animation Studios has been creating memorable characters since it began in 1923, and bringing the right characters together is an art the Studio has mastered completely. Who is your favorite character pairing? See if they made our list:
It is no surprise that Timon and Pumba from The Lion King would make the list of Disney Animation’s most dynamic duos. Everybody knows their problem-free philosophy: Hakuna Matata. And while the comedic pair prefer to joke around and take it easy, when push comes to shove, they are willing to put themselves at risk to help their friends.
On paper, a partnership between law-abiding rabbit Judy Hopps and law-bending fox Nick Wilde doesn’t make sense. However, what starts out as reluctant cooperation grows into a friendship of mutual trust and respect. They learn and grow together, and eventually crack the case, helping all of Zootopia.
In Tangled, Flynn and Rapunzel start out as an unlikely duo – his world weariness and her sense of wonder are a stark contrast. Yet, as they get to know each other, they start affecting each other in the best way possible – Rapunzel discovering her true strength and resourcefulness, and Flynn learning that some things are more important than material wealth.
While free-spirited Lumière and tightly-wound Cogsworth may have differing opinions on how to get a job done, they play well off of each other – giving us plenty of laughs along the way. When it matters, they band together, and are able to rely on each other.
Although they initially band together out of necessity, Moana and Maui soon prove to make a good team. Through their partnership, Moana learns more about herself and discovers her true strength, while Maui, initially driven by self-interest, is able to redeem himself and his legacy.
